Huntingdon District Council (HDC) have received further information on the Buckden, Silver Street Development – Application Number: 18/02753/OUT. Buckden Parish Council and interested residents have been asked to comment on the additional information supplied by HDC – Deadline: 21st December 2020. BPC have attached a document which set out our concerns about the Silver Street development.
You can use this to help write a response to the letter you have received and to complain to Highways England if you feel that this is necessary.
At this point the HDC have asked for your comments on three documents, the most important of which (at this time) is the Transport Technical Note. This report proposes a solution to the extra traffic generated by the development. It focuses on the roundabout.
In summary the key points are:
- The traffic data provided is projected only to 2026, not 2036 as recommended by Highways England’s own consultants.
- The roundabout proposals are unsafe and there is a high risk of collision/accident.
- It is unclear what the impact of the proposals are on queueing on local roads which is critical to the village.
- Access to the site is dangerous and traffic volumes on Silver Street are wholly unacceptable.
- Construction traffic will cause traffic chaos in the village for years.
