So far, we’ve completed lining works on the northbound and some of the southbound carriageway between Buckden roundabout and Brampton, plus treated some deep lying concrete faults on the southbound half of Buckden roundabout.
This weekend (9pm, Friday 1 July to 6am, Monday 4 July) we continue our works with a complete closure of the northbound half of Buckden Roundabout. To facilitate this, a full closure of the A1 northbound between Wyboston and Brampton Hut will be in place.
These closures are in place from Wyboston to ensure that vehicles travelling northbound along the A1 use the appropriate diversion route and avoid causing congestion on the local road network.
What local measures around Buckden are in place this weekend?
We are working hard to ensure that residents and businesses can keep moving whilst we undertake this critical maintenance work. To help with this, the following measures are in place this weekend:
- Taylors Lane crossover – As with last weekend, the temporary crossing point across the A1 (opposite Taylors Lane) will be in place. Please exit Buckden via the northern end of High Street to use the crossing point and continue along the A1 northbound.
- Temporary holding of traffic at High Street – To enable access for residents and business of Taylors Lane and Hardwick Lane, we may have to hold traffic wishing to use the High Street exit/Taylors Lane crossover, for up to 15mins per hour. In some cases, we will be escorting farm traffic the wrong way down the A1 northbound.
- Use of traffic management personnel and communications boards – For vehicles that can only leave their properties via the A1 northbound, traffic management personnel or communications boards will be present to assist in getting escorted out of properties.
- Residents of Taylors Lane and Hardwick Lane will be escorted back into their properties via the vehicle escort meeting point at High Street. Letters have been sent to those impacted.
- Residents of properties on the northbound carriageway, located between Southoe and Buckden roundabout, will be escorted into their properties via the vehicle escort meeting point at Hail Weston A1 northbound entry slip road. Letters have been sent to those impacted.
- Pedestrian access into Buckden from Perry Road – All pedestrians will need to use the pedestrian subway into Buckden. We will install temporary ramps to ensure accessibility for all users. Please do not walk through our work site to gain access into Buckden.
- Access into Buckden via A1 southbound and through the Offord’s only.Registered office Bridge House, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford GU1 4LZ
Highways England Company Limited registered in England and Wales number 09346363
