Please be advised that Huntingdonshire District Council’s waste collection service will be suspended tomorrow (Friday 18 February) due to Storm Eunice. Therefore, we are asking residents not to put their bins out for collection.
We will be putting in place arrangements for recollections so are encouraging people to keep checking our social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) and website for updates. If possible, please could you share with your networks so as many people as possible are made aware.
The Met Office has declared a weather warning an Amber Warning for wind from 3am to 9pm on Friday 18 February over a large section of the country, including Huntingdonshire with the arrival of Storm Eunice.
We may see gusts of up to 70mph in some parts of our district and across Cambridgeshire – the strongest winds since 2013 – so Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue have issued the following advice to the public:
- Only travel if you need to, and if you do go out, please take extra care driving and allow more time than usual for your journeys.
- Drive to the conditions and be aware of debris on the roads, and be cautious when passing high-sided vehicles on open roads.
- If you are out and about, please be careful of falling debris.
- Make sure everything is secure in your garden, by ensuring loose items outside (furniture, toys, trampolines) are moved into a shed/garage or secured down to prevent them blowing away or getting damaged.
